I’m on my old laptop and I found this quick illustration I did for my professional repor in March.
The report was about my time at my work placement (Which was at Saloni London) and was last minute. I leave all of my essays till the day before, I need the adrenaline caused by the complete panic to get them done. I’ve never once got below a merit plus though, touch wood (I just completed yet another last minute essay earlier… watch me fail after making that comment.)
Anyway the report was supposed to be illustrated so I did a few quick sketches in grey marker and then free handed on top with my trusty stick and ink.
This was based on the evolution of the Alexia dress, one of their key shapes.
I really miss drawing so freely. My new project based on Mary Katrantzou unfortunately doesn’t lend to this style- it’s so bloody detailed! I appreciate being forced to use new techniques but I hate spending so much time on something. This literally took 10 minutes and although I hated it at the time I’m really starting to like it now!
Another quick sketch in my personal book, I think it was based on a D&G collection?
Very rough.
Marker and mechanical pencil
something I did in January in my sketchbook for a project based on Olivier Theyskens and Macbeth.
Just some quick catwalk sketches from a Nina Ricci show.
I think 2009?
Drawn and coloured in Ink and pastel rubbed on top.
A4
Without colour, I prefer it like this… Just because I hate doing colour.
But I can’t get away with it like this :(
Pen
Illustration based on Russian fairytale
Drawn in pen on A3 and roughly coloured in Photoshop- still not so sure what I’m doing when it comes to that programme.
Unfortunately it no longer fits in my project, I plan to redo it with less emphasis on lines and paint it in watercolour.
Full size. still don’t know whether to add detail with pencil to the watercolour. But the idea was to have the prints JUST colour and make the model completely linear so they are two separate things.
A lot different from what I’m used to doing.
Mary Katrantzou Fall 2011
This probably won’t be the final edit.
This is the first time I’ve used paints in about five years. I had no choice but to include colour :(
My aim for summer is to become a master at water colours and to stop being so lazy!
Freehand Ink and Stick
A montage based on a fashion film, created by Saloni London for their AW12 collection.
Just a quick sketch, recently discovered mechanical pencils.
Not finished, but just to show I HAVE been drawing.
It accidentally turned into Lindsay Lohan
Similar Process to my Shirt Dress Design.
Freehand ink and stick, photographed and coloured in CS5
Topshop Unique AW 2010
Photography Collaboration.
Freehand paint, stick and dry brush on print outs.
These images are currently framed and are photographs of the final pieces. They look flattened and less textured than the originals.
The male model is Luke Worral.
